Life 101 - Part 5
Over the course of this series, the advice from Peter has challenged us in many ways.
We have learned new things and we have been reintroduced to old concepts that we allow to fade in and out of our lives.
We know that God is good and He seeks to do good things because it is in His very nature to do so.
He wants to show His goodness to us by blessing us, embracing us and caring for us.
It goes without saying that God’s goodness is not challenged by the evils of this world, nor should He ever be blamed for them.
The last chapter of the New Testament book, 1 Peter, and our final Large Group for this series really focused on the art of suffering well.
Read through chapters four and five of 1 Peter once, and then take a look at passages in clusters of four or five verses at a time.
Listen to what speaks to your heart.
Take notice of what jumps out to you in each passage.
Write down any thoughts or questions you may have.
Here are some reflection questions to get you started:
· Is it difficult to remember that while Christ suffered and was tempted just as we are, He reacted in completely different manners than the ways in which we tend to act?
· How does this change the way you view your behaviors (past or present)?
· In a world where competition is a headliner for everything from sports to the workplace, how does the idea of faithful stewardship resonate with you?
· What does it mean to you to suffer as a Christian, unashamedly?
· How do you feel about the responsibility that is put on us as Christians to be judged first?
· How do you feel about the responsibility as an older Christian to lead younger Christians by serving?
· What emotions or thoughts arise with the idea of submission as younger Christians to older Christians?
· What role does humility play in these thoughts?
· What makes you uncomfortable about these passages? What brings you peace?
